Fribourg filmfest to host ‘When Pomegranates Howl’

Iranian movie ‘When Pomegranates Howl’ has made way to the Fribourg International Film Festival (FIFF) in Switzerland.

The film directed by Granaz Mousavi, will compete with 11 other films from around the world at the main competition section of the event.

The drama tells the story of a little boy named Hewad, who lives on the streets of Kabul following the loss of his father and brother.

The 9-year-old boy starts working as a cart pusher to support his family. He enjoys doing his job, traveling through the capital city of Afghanistan.

He actually has a dream to become a star of cinema. His dream revives as he meets an Australian photographer.

Arafat Faiz, Elham Ayazi, Saeedeh Sadat, Fereshteh Alami, Madineh Niaz, and Andrew Quilty are some of the cast members of the flick.

Iranian maestro, Hossein Alizadeh, has composed the music score for the movie.

The FIFF aims to use films as a medium for enhancing the inter-cultures’ understanding. The event picks films that promote reflection and discussion.

This year’s edition of the fest is set to be held on March 18-27.
